The carpet in the living room is gone. When I came home on Thursday night from Las Vegas, I was to happy to see the floor in the living room all nice and pretty. My husband was working very hard while I was on vacation. He finished putting on the Tiger Wood floors as well as the framing of the stair case. Although there's still a lot of finishing touches required, the living room is now carpet free and it will be so easy to clean and maintain.
This weekend he ripping out the old floor to replace it with the same Tigerwood floor as above. While doing this he discovered that under neat the old floor were at least 3 types of vinyl floors that previous tenants have applied. What is weird is that no one ever took out the old flooring. They just covered it with glue and applied the new vinyl. There was a reddish kind, an off white kind and finally the tan kind. Another discovery that he found was that one section of the flooring goes only as far as the cabinets and another section, the flooring goes all the way under the cabinets. At this time we are not changing cabinets so he would have to cut the floors just around the baseboard. The faster way to do this is to buy a special electric saw other wise it will take him days to pull out the old flooring. He went to Harbour Freight to buy the tool and he used it for 15 minutes and he was done. That was the best purchase for today.
