Terrific Tuesday - Sister as my guest blogger

Yes, this is a terrific day as my sister has gracefully allowed me to be a guest blogger. We had just returned from our trip to Jackson Rancheria. And while she is doing the dishes, I have the duty of doing this blog.

We left yesterday and stayed overnight at the casino hotel. We were given $5.00 credit to use and my card won't show the credit so I just started to put in $6.00 of my own money. I played the Mayan Riches slot and won $70.00. We walked around and my sister was playing her favorite machine and winning and losing. I then played the same machine in a different location and won $55.00.

My fave brother-in-law did not play a lot. We then went to have buffet dinner and my lil sister enjoyed the crab legs.....she must have eaten 14 crab legs!!!!!! That was after she had a plateful of different stuff.

This morning we went to the casino and played for half an hour and had fun playing Michael Jackson slot. We won $10.00 but had the most fun. On our way home we did more shopping and I must say we had a really fun and terrific day. Thank you sis and brother-in-law.

Timely Tuesday - Short and Sweet

Yesterday I mentioned that I will be posting about the 3 course meal that I made for our guests for their first night or should I say only one night stay.  I guess it's kinda short and sweet. While watching one of those cooking show, I saw something that was very interesting combination.  Date, goat and marscapone cheese, basil and proscutto equals our appetizer.  We stopped by a different grocery store called Fresh and Easy.  I picked up a nice pork cutlets and a Raspberry Chipotle Marinade - this was our main dish.  Instead of the wild rice I was thinking of making, I made Pancit Canton (noodle dish with chicken and veggies).  I also made a salad.  There are so many choices for dessert as my MIL gave me some zucchini bread, Chinese chews, chocolate chip cookies and I still have more cupcakes.  To accompany these variety of sweets,  Jeff bought some different flavor of Haggen Daz ice cream (Creme Brule, White chocolate raspberry truffle, Amaretto Almond Crunch, Banana split and Mint Chip).  I am sorry that I can only show a couple of photos because I forgot to take them as we started eating as soon as the food was ready.
Date filled with goat cheese and wrapped in proschutto
Simple salad
Mini Banana muffins with Kahlua
Roses from my MIL - Happy Thanksgiving (Canada)
Autumn M&M and Candy Corn also from my MIL
Unfortunately my friends will be leaving this afternoon for their rest of California trip.  It was really nice having them even if it was only one day and night.  I was able to take a couple of hours with Raff to show her my favorite stores (Ross and Kohl's).

Soulful Sunday - Visitation Over

It was short and sweet.  Our Canadian friends Barb and Greg left today to continue their journey to other parts of northern California. We had a nice visit on Friday and again on Saturday.  For dinner we served a Mexican Meal which includes Carne Asada (beef BBQ) and Carnitas (pork) tacos, mango salsa, spicy jalapeno beans, Mexican rice, and for dessert - peach cake and ice cream.

They went to Mt. Harmon to do zip lining on Saturday morning and in the evening they went to watch the College Football - Stanford and some other team.  We were able to serve dinner early in order for them to get to the game on time.  Barb made an awesome Sangria with strawberry, lemon, red wine, triple sec, soho liqueur, and Sprite zero.  A very nice cool drink while we had our dinner in the backyard.  I cooked filipino lumpia, chicken BBQ marinated in Sesame garlic sauce, rice noodles (pancit) and for dessert, turon (deep fried banana roll).

This morning we are having a grand slam breakfast by chef Jeff which includes dollar pancake, french toast, warm syrup, ham, bacon and eggs.  Since both Barb and Greg are not coffee drinker, Barb only tried our Chai Latte from Keurig.

Unfortunately I won't be able to post their review of their stay at CPBB but as soon as I receive them, it will be posted for sure.  We wish them a safe trip back to Canada and hope to see them again.  We now look forward to our next guests A&R who will be arriving on 10/10.
