Favorite Friday - 2015 TV shows

The final season of Parenthood ended last Thursday which means we can pick another new show to add to our favorites.  Since we are only allowed to record two shows at the same time, we have to really pick our favorites.  Jeff is pretty good on how to put priorities on the shows we are currently following.  Here are some of new and old favorites.  Sometimes I feel that we do watch a lot of TV in the evening.  Jeff still works full time and although I am retired, I do have a busy schedule.  So I am thinking that watching a few hours in the evening is our way to relax and enjoy some together time.
  • Fresh off the Boat (only started this week)
  • Junior Master Chef (did not think Jeff would like this because the host is Gordon Ramsay)
  • Cristela
  • Alaska Bush People -off the grid
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Mom
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • 2 Broke Girls
  • Mike and Molly
  • American Idol
  • Last Man Standing
  • Shark Tank
  • Celebrity Name Game
Of course I still watch most of the golf tournaments on the Golf Channel.  The Grand Slam of tennis (Australian, French, Wimbledon and US Open).  This season we have been off and on with following the Sharks.  I think I will be watching more closer to the NHL Playoffs.  How many hours do you spend watching TV?  What are your top ten and how much recording do you do?

Watching Wednesday - The season has begun

It is very scary to admit that there are days when Jeff and I just sit and watch a few shows after dinner.  Does that make us couch potato?  Or is there such a thing as couch sweet potato? Why sweet? It's because we sit together side by side and enjoy catching up on the days event during commercial.  But before we start watching our favorite shows, we have to do our daily chores.  Dishes, garbage, tidying up, watering plants, laundry maybe, grocery shopping, and what ever chore needs to get done.  Jeff had already recorded the different shows that we like and of course there are some shows that are only his favorite not mine.  Since we can only record two shows at the same time, we will save some recorded ones for times like this.  It's one of those give and take as there are shows that we each like and unfortunately it's on the same time and same day.  That is when ON DEMAND comes in handy.  I can do all the catch up if I want during the day when I'm home and Jeff's at work.  Here's our list starting from the shows we watch together, then Jeff shows, then my shows.  What are your favorite this season and do you have different favorites or are they all the same.
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Two Broke Girls
  • Mike and Molly
  • Modern Family
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • Parenthood
Jeff's List
  • Under the Dome
  • Grimm
  • Once upon a time
  • Walking Dead
  • Falling Skies
  • Revolution
Luckie's List
  • Dancing with the Stars
  • The Voice
  • American Idol
  • Hockey Games
  • Golf & Tennis
  • Diners, Drive-ins and Dives

Theology Thursday - The Bible

During Easter weekend, we did not see anything interesting to watch and there were no shows recorded.  It was Saturday night and while flipping through the many channels, Jeff decided to check out the history channel.  The featured show was The Bible.  As it was still part of the holy week, we thought it was fitting that we re learn what really happened then.
The rest of the episodes were recorded as it involved several shows.  While we were watching Jeff and I would quiz each other who's who, try to recall the words being said, and what is about to happen.  During commercials we would discuss some of the things that happenedThere are some parts of the show that was a bit too painful and too violent for me.  Do you remember seeing the movie Jesus Christ Superstar?  I think I prefer that version because it was musical.  There has been a lot of movies made about the life of Jesus and I believe the last one I remember was the Passion of Christ directed by Mel Gibson.  It was reviewed by the critics as having extreme violence.  Can you imagine if the people who commits crime now a days are dealt with the same way Jesus died?  Would there be less crime committed?

Soulful Sunday - and the OSCAR goes to

Tonight will be all about the OSCAR so I decided to do this post about it.  I will just go through the different categories and pick my choiceTomorrow I will check all my picks and see how good or how bad I did.  And the Oscar goes to:
  • Best Picture - ARGO
  • Best Actor in a leading role - Hugh Jackman
  • Best Actress in a leading role - Jessica Chastain
  • Best Director - Steven Spielberg
  • Best Music (original score) - Lincoln - John Williams
  • Best Actor in a supporting role - Alan Arkin
  • Best Actress in a supporting role - Anne Hathaway
  • Best Animated Feature film - Brave
  • Best Music (original song) - Skyfall by Adelle
  • Best Cinematography - Life of Pi
Although I have not seen a lot of movies, I have watched all the different awards and I remembered some of the winners.  So far I have only seen Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook.  Good luck to all my choice of winners and I hope they get the Oscar.

Three Tuesday - DWTS - KA has to go

After watching last nights DWTS, I cannot believe how Kirstie Alley still gets higher points when she can't hardly breath after dancing.  The pros that was doing all the moves makes her look good, but if you really watch the moves that she does, I really cannot believe why she is still in the competition.  Is she paying other people to vote for her?  But then the judges still gives her a better score than Shawn Johnson.

  • YES - I believe Gilles and Apollo should be the top male stars to go forward.
  • NO - Kirstie really have to go.  She cannot be with the same group as Kelly and Melissa who definitely are a different calibre of dancers. Sometimes when you watch their moves, the are so compatible and so together.
  • MAYBE - Emmett will be safe because he has a lot of football followers.  If Kirstie stays and moves forward, maybe this is my last week of watching DWTS.
Did you watch her reaction after her votes were announced? Is this woman on drugs?
