Wild Wednesday - Flowers and more

One day last week I decided to pull some unwanted plants aka weeds. It took over an hour to finish the whole front yard. It was a very sunny and warm day so I couldn't believe how much sweat was dripping from my forehead.  Since I am not familiar with some of the plants versus weeds, I started pulling one green plant thinking it was weed but when I pulled all the way through, there was a bulb at the end of the weed.  Oops, so I tried to put it back in.  So hopefully I have only pulled the right unwanted plants.  The next day my hubby took a photo of this plant in the backyard and I thought that someone planted it.  But my hubby said it's not real plants but some type of weed.  Oh bother.  Now I have decided to maybe just try planting herbs and some vegetables this year instead of flowers that I don't have a clue which ones are annuals or perennials.  To me they are all just colorful flowers.

Manageable Monday - To plant or not to plant

Last year I planted some flowering plants in several pots as well as some on the ground.  My problem is that I am not a true gardener and don't even like watering plants. I have a few indoor plants that are really doing well only because my hubby took charge of watering them.  Although this year there were some pretty flowers blooming but they were planted by the previous owner and each year they just come up in the spring.  Now my dilemma is whether to just buy a couple of those hanging basket with flowering plants or not doing anything.  There are plants on the front yard but not colors except when the roses comes up.  I know that the front yard will look alive when there's colors but I am not convinced that the plants will stay alive the whole summer and fall. A few days ago, I took a couple of photos of the new blooms.  By the way, I have one rhubarb plant located beside the front step that is back to life.  The past couple of years, I have harvested rhubarb and was able to make a small jar of jam. Usually I could get some by early summer and early fall.  Each harvest is about 4 to 6 stalks. Are you getting your garden ready now that you have all the time at home?

My neighbor delivered 5 of these Gerbera daisy because she knows it's my favorite.

Believe it or not, I have a few of these with a variety of colors.

My one and only rhubarb plant, check out how skinny the stalks are.

Sweetest Saturday - Candyman

Who is the candy man and why does he like candy so much?  Of course it's not just candy, it could be anything sweet.  But wait not just any sweet.  Then what kind of sweets.  Let me tell you some of his favorite candies, then favorite desserts, and last but not least snacks.  You will figure out who is the candy man by the end of this post.

CANDY: M&M peanut, Twizzlers, Nibs, gum and gumballs, Oh Henry, Mike and Ike's, Good and Plenty, Red hots, Tootsie Roll, Juji Fruits, Baby Ruth, Butterfinger, Clarke Bar, Snickers

DESSERTS: Tiramisu, Brownies, Chocolate cupcakes, Chocolate chip cookies (made by him)
our home made No churn ice cream (Baileys is his favorite), chocolate pudding and Jello (specially with whipping cream on top).

SNACKS: Plain almonds, cliff bars, swiss rolls, Hostess mini donuts,  double stuff Oreos, apples, oranges, apricots, raw carrots and bell pepper.

What is very interesting is that he does not like any PIE and any of the Filipino rice desserts  they all taste the same to him.  So this man who loves sweets, does that make him a sweet man?  Well, it depends on how you want to interpret it, but I am very lucky to have a sweetie.

Walking Wednesday - Flowers are blooming

Whenever we go for our walk around the neighborhood, we always find interesting items that might be good to share on my blog.  Since spring has arrived, I have been taking photos of flowers that are blooming on everyone's yard.  Although I have some that are starting to show some flowers or that some plants are alive, this one particular home had their front yard covered with very colorful blooms.  Now that everyone is at home, I am sure the yards from the neighborhood will be very well manicured.  More plants are getting planted and most weeds are pulled and grass are all cut very short.  What have you been doing in your yard or garden.  By the way, I forgot to mention that my hubby bought 5 fruit trees in the hopes that we will get something to pick next year.

From my front yard

This was the succulent that I got from the gardener at our golf course.

These were the flowers from one of the neighborhood front garden.

Meanest Monday - An old story

Last year when my hubby was getting his mom's house ready for selling, he found some boxes, etc and he found some interesting photos and hidden treasures. LOL.  But out of all the items he found, this newspaper clipping was the most interesting one.  I guess the story behind it was that he had read it from the local paper and clipped it.  On mother's day, he inserted it on a card he made for his mom. At first I was thinking of typing the whole story for this post, but instead I took a picture of the article and paste it below.  I hope that you enjoy reading this article as much as I did. Maybe I should have reserve it and waited until next month, but what will I post today.  Thank you to all the meanest mom.
