Thoughtful Tuesday - Are you?

Thoughtful - showing consideration for the needs of other people.  This one of those qualities that is great to have and it's so nice when most of your friends have this quality.  What you would wish for is that your family (both in laws and outlaws) also have this quality.  But as the saying goes, you can pick your friends but you can't pick your family and you can't change their attitude towards you.  So what is this post all about.  It's about being thoughtful and some little acts that means a lot.
  • Giving compliments to those who deserve it
  • Saying Thank you
  • Not saying anything that is hurtful
  • Remembering birthdays even if you can't send a card
  • Offering your time for friends in need
  • Being a good listener to family's problem
  • Saying "I'm sorry" honestly
  • Spending quality time with family - not just stopping by when you need them
A little late today but I thought I would still post it because I feel so strong about this.

Murky Monday - not good enough

Have you heard of the expression Good Enough for the Government?  My MIL seems to use this a lot and it makes me laugh.  But now it's not funny because Jeff has been having a lot of issues with regards to his landscaping projects.  It all started because some neighbor was very nosy and was checking out the work being done on our front yard and back yard.  Anyway while we were away on vacation, some inspector came by and was looking around.
To make the long story short, the city wanted a bunch of paper work and eventually some money for a permit.  Jeff has been going to the government offices in order to try and sort out what exactly they needed.  So far he has just been given the run around.  Most of the sections are close on Friday or the workers do not deal with the public on Fridays.  Last Friday is when he found out about all this but even when he was able to speak with someone, all they do is tell him to go there, take a number and when he did, they would say something like, you have to go to another section and more papers, etc.  We tried going on line and find out exactly but even that did not answer all the question Jeff has.  To make the matter worst, you cannot make an appointment, you have to appear at their office, take a number and hope to get an appointment, come back with whatever paper they require in the hopes that what you brought is correct.  Then at some point some inspector might or might not come to the site to check out what exactly if we meet what they think is required.  Just to let you know that this project started the first week of June.  We are at the end of July and it is still all MURKY.  This is why if at all possible, you don't want to deal with anything that will involve any level of government.  The saga continues and if and when it ends, it will definitely be posted.
I found this when I was searching for the Good Enough for the Government expression.

Sweet Sunday - Something new

Just a few new things that I wanted to share and because I have been watching too much coverage of the Olympics and don't have the time to be creative and do interesting post.
Last week while doing my groceries, I was in search of a new type of soda.  Since this particular one I saw was only sale with Sierra Mist and A&W Rootbeer, I decided to try it.
The only thing wrong with this new soda is the amount of sugar.  The good thing is that I can use it when I need a sugar fix when my results are very low. Here is it is, introducing TAMARINDO SOL.
Sorry, I was too lazy to take another photo.
This past week, Jeff and I have been watching some different shows.  One is about houses and the other two about families.  Now you are probably wondering what you have been missing too.  Actually it might not be that interesting but when there is nothing else to watch this is what we picked.
  • House Hunters and House Hunters International
  • American Colony - Meet the Hutterites
  • Sullivan & Son

Sweep Saturday - Not cleaning but Medals

Which country will have the most Olympic Medals?  That is why I picked the word sweep for today.  I stayed up late to finish watching the recorded coverage of the Opening day of the Olympics.  So far we have set the DVR to record the coverage every day for the first week which means many hours in front of the TV. As the whole world watches their favorite athlete or team and cheer for their countries representative,  I wish everyone the best and hope that all goes smoothly without incident.  I also want to wish them a safe return to their respective country with or without a medal but hopefully some very special moments to remember.  Good luck to all and maybe the best athlete win.

Freedom Friday - All about me

Yeah, I am all done with my baby sitting duties and the other bonus is that Gamble won't be sleeping over this weekend.  After being with children for the past three days, I needed to be around adults so I picked up my MIL yesterday and we had lunch, volunteered at the library and helped her with grocery shopping.  She suggested that Jeff and I should go away as we needed some alone time.  Maybe this weekend will be all about me.  Although Jeff needs to spend more time with his storage room project, so I will have to just chill or maybe do some sewing.  Whatever it is that we plan to do this weekend it will be all about me and I will enjoy every moment of it.

Too Tired Thursday - Finally

Finally, it's the last day of babysitting and hopefully I will never be asked again.  But just in case they do, I will make sure that I have an alibi.  Sometimes I think I should just find a regular job, get paid and then I have a great excuse why I cannot babysit.  Somehow it sounds really crappy and coward excuse, but for those of you who are consistently being asked to baby sit other people's kids, I am sure you know what I am talking about.  Here's what I look with the two grandchildren after they arrive early in the morning.  As you can see, the baby is a bit big and solid.  No wonder my left arm is sore after the first day.
I am not sleeping on the job, they are just a little drooping from lack of sleep and being tired.

Wicked Wednesday - am I becoming to be?

Am I turning to be that wicked Step Mother? or maybe the wicked Grandmother? I hope not.  But after taking care of the Grandchildren yesterday, I said to myself that I would never agree to do this job again.  The baby cried most of the time except for the 45 minutes nap and another 20 minutes of nap.  She did not want to stay in the playpen and cries until I picked her up.  My left arm is actually in pain from carrying all that weight.  I have today and tomorrow which totals another 10 hours.  Honestly it's not that I don't like children because I love my two but they were the best when they were little.  They were very easy to care for and maybe I just got lucky.  Maybe when the baby gets a little older and can play with her brother, then I don't think I won't be complaining as much.  I just don't want to turn into the wicked witch of the West!!! Wish me luck today and tomorrow as I will definitely need all the luck and of course a ton of patience.

Maybe I should have bought this game and played prior to actually babysitting!
