Spry Sunday - That's me

From now on when someone ask how I would describe myself, I would use this word - SPRY.
When checking the exact meaning, I realized it was describing me.  Active, lively, energetic, agile, nimble, spirited, vivacious and more.  When my BFFs were visiting we did a lot and even though they were a lot younger than me, I felt pretty good about keeping up with the schedule except for the drinking part.  We went out dancing, played golf, walked a lot, and even got a chance to do Just Dance 3.   Being retired I have a lot of time to do so many things and I really try to keep busy and do a bit of exercise.  Although I don't spend a lot of hours at a gym, I know that for my age I am still doing just fine.  My friend aka brother should be how to use the resistance tube to do some muscle toning and strengthening.  Now that the weather is getting warmer and the days longer, Jeff and I can play tennis again which is a great workout for us.

Definitely not part of my workout.

Me Monday - The Real Housewives of South San Jose

Who are the Real housewives of South San Jose?  It was a joke.  Last Thursday, my friend Jean treated me to a day at Santana Row.  She booked a pedicure for two at two in the afternoon.  We started our day with my new talent - styling her hair.  Once it was all nice, curly and pretty, we headed to Santana Row.  It's a really nice high end shopping place in Santa Clara which to me it's still San Jose.  From the street it did not look busy at all but we could not find any parking.  We pass by a Valet parking only, so we decided to stop going around in circle and just use it.  It was a very cold morning which was a perfect day to use Valet that was very close to the places we had to go.  Our first stop, lunch at Pasta Pomodoro.  We chose to do an early lunch to beat the rush but actually there was no rush.  It seems like most people stayed in their offices or at home because of the cold weather.  The sky was blue and the was warm but everyone is all bundled up.  We were going for pedicure which is why I'm the only person who is wearing sandals.  After lunch we did some Christmas shopping and found some stores that had some very unique items.  One was a stationary store, a clothing store and a kitchen store.  Although the items were a little expensive for my budget, the things Jean and I bought were very special and fits perfectly to the person we bought it for.  Before our pedicure, we stopped by Starbucks to get some holiday coffee specials.  The spa place is called Lavande in Santana Row.  We both had regular pedicure and I chose not to have nail art design because I knew that I would do a better job.  The person who was doing my toes was so impressed with my nail art on my nails.  It was a very nice, clean and professional spa.  If you are ever visiting our area, you should check it out.  After our day at Santana Row, I told Jean that we could be the Real Housewives of South San Jose because of our day of pampering and living the life of retired wives.  We thought about it later and decided we are not really the type and that we only did one day of ME.  It was a real treat because it's the first week that I feel better and that my bounce is back.

Freedom Friday - All about me

Yeah, I am all done with my baby sitting duties and the other bonus is that Gamble won't be sleeping over this weekend.  After being with children for the past three days, I needed to be around adults so I picked up my MIL yesterday and we had lunch, volunteered at the library and helped her with grocery shopping.  She suggested that Jeff and I should go away as we needed some alone time.  Maybe this weekend will be all about me.  Although Jeff needs to spend more time with his storage room project, so I will have to just chill or maybe do some sewing.  Whatever it is that we plan to do this weekend it will be all about me and I will enjoy every moment of it.

Simply Saturday - Silly and Sweet

At my age, being silly might be a little inappropriate but I always believe that being silly keeps me young.  So what are the silly things that I still do.
  • Every now and again when Jeff and I are doing our groceries on the way to the car, I like to ride on the front of the grocery cart.  I would ask Jeff to go fast and when he does I would say Noooooh.
  • Some times when I am waiting for Jeff to come home from work, as soon as I hear the garage door opening, I would hide and then scare him.  One time I really did.  Now I am scared just in case he does it to me.
  • Tickling Jeff is my other silliness but Jeff does not like playing that game because he doesn't really like to be tickled.  So now it's not considered as part of my silliness, it's more like a threat.
  • When it's time for bed, I would turn off the bedroom light which is located away from the bed and once I flick the swith, I would run and try to beat light. Don't understand why I always lose.
Being sweet is one of the things my friends and of course Jeff describe my personality.  What is funny is that I am a Diabetic, therefore don't have a lot of sugar in me and should not have a lot of.  I guess that's why I make it up in a non material way.  So here are some of the things I do that makes me a sweet person without being biased.
  • I hardly throw a hissy fit, I seldom whine, and I rarely complain.
  • I love helping out friends either by making meals, baking treats or just whatever they need to make their life easier.
  • I love shopping for my daughter and love surprising her with whatever I can find and send her the package.
  • I still hand write my letters to friends that are living in Canada that don't do email.
  • Since I moved in, I've taken over the cutting of Jeff's hair so he does not have to go to a barber shop or salon.
Here's a song that Jeff picked to describe me.  Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughn.
