Simply Saturday - Hearth of the Fireplace

It thought it would so simple, just get the tiles, cut them, mix the mortar, apply mortar to tile and place them on the spot.  Well, it's not that simple nor it's that easy.  I did not realize how much time it takes to put it all together to ensure that they line up and sit properly.  But I have been patiently waiting to see what actually the result would be.  This is the first photo I have to share for the new hearth.  I know that he still has to fill in the tiny space with grout and then have to seal, clean and shine.  Hopefully this weekend it will be all finished and he will have to start with the tiles around the fireplace and then start building the mantle from scratch.  The problem with these renovations is that Jeff is doing everything and I can't really help because it is not that simple.  Maybe later on when the mantle is built, I could apply the primer paint.

Maybe Monday - Maybe it will be done

This weekend we finally picked the marble tile that will be installed on our fireplace hearth and mantle and the foyer part of the house.  We picked a dark brown and beige Emperador marble tile.  It would take at least a few days for the order to arrive.  This week Jeff will begin the work on the mantle.  It will be made of wood and the design we have chosen is something similar to the one on the photo.

Once the tiles arrives, he will then complete the around the fireplace design and the tiling in the front of the fireplace - the hearth.  Just so you have an idea of the tiles we have chosen, I found something similar.  The design on the foyer will be made up of both dark and beige.  Jeff will layout the tiles at an angle and add some dark ones around the beige ones in a different shape.  I guess the best way is for me to share a photo once all the work is complete.
