Wispy Wednesday - New Year New Hairstyle

Those racing stripes is really starting to bother me.  It was good that we don't have to go anywhere formal or a party or any event.  We have been just staying home as it's a little too cold for me to go out to even take a walk (what is that).  I called my new hairstylist to see if she could fit me in. Luckily she had a cancellation and I was able to fit it in my busy schedule. LOL.  The last time she did a little bit of burgundy tinge.  Actually I was surprised how it turned out and I think I will ask her to do the same next time.  For this appointment I just need to get the roots done and maybe a bit of a
wispy trim for my bangs as well as the ends.  Maybe I need to ask her to do a wispy cut all around. As the title of the post is new hairstyle, I could ask her to do something like some of the style I found.
I remember a couple of years ago, I told Jeff that maybe I would just let the grey grow out.  And this is his response, "Oh, I am not ready for you to go grey!" LOL

Trimming Thursday - Bangs again

Bangs, no bangs, bangs again.  It's funny how this dilemma is experienced by a lot of women.  When one decides to grow out the bangs, there is that time when it is annoying because it pokes you in the eye or you couldn't style it.  This is my recent experience and last night I decide to deal with it and trim my bangs.  Usually I do a pretty good job trimming my own, but last night, I made it a little shorter than how I usually do it and it was more blunt instead of layered.  Now I have to make sure I dry it properly otherwise it will be hidden under my hat.  I have been contemplating on having a good hair cut to make my hair look healthier.  It's growing too long and I am feeling that maybe I am too old for this long style.  Maybe I should go back to my regular stylist Kevin.  Maybe he can give me that newer or more stylish hair for someone my age.  I was going to take a selfie of my bangs but I am too embarrassed  to show it.  The blessing is that my hair grows fast so those bangs will be the right length in a week.
My bangs is very similar to this. LOL

Wispy Wednesday - With or without bangs

My sister and I were talking about hairstyle last night and it got me thinking about what to do with my bangs.  While my sister is trying to find a new shorter hairstyle, I was trying to get my bangs of my face as it was a bit too long.  I can only remember a couple of times when I did not have bangs and it did not last long.  There was not a lot of style I could do.  Maybe it's because I'm just to lazy to discover new ways to wear it.  Now that it's getting to that length, it will only take maybe another couple of months to grow.  Although I am keeping my hair long, sometimes I get this image of me having short hair or no bangs, just one length. One thing for sure is that I am not ready to let the grey grow and have a short hair style. When my bangs starts poking my eyes, I will take my scissors and just start snipping away making some wispy bangs.  I am not afraid to do it because I have done it many times and love how my bangs look.  A couple of months ago, I ask Jeff to trim the ends of my hair to take off some of the split ends.  He did not hesitate and my hair looked very healthy after the trim.  Between Jeff and I, we save a lot of trips to the Hair Salon.  He doesn't even mind doing a root touch-up.  I remember when we were still living apart, we tried the L'oreal hair product to do color and highlights.  The results - a lot of compliments from my friends. Here's a couple photos of what I am considering for style and color.
Just the hairstyle not the color.
Something like this with high and low lights.

Truthful Thursday - Hair Products

Whenever I am window shopping at some of these places (TJ Max, Marshalls, Ross, Target, Walmart), it seems that I get drawn in the hair product section.   I am always checking for great deals of shampoo, conditioner and of course my very special favorite silk therapy from BIOSILK.  Yesterday, it was my lucky day while I was with Jean, we stopped by at Marshalls and there it was.

The last time I bought this trio package was from Target as they had a great deal.

The other favorite is from Bumble & Bumble.  Three of their products is what I use currently for my hair.  The styling lotion gives so much volume when I dry my hair using the big roller brush.  The defrizz makes my hair shinny after I straightening.  The colored spray is to cover my grey when I'm going somewhere special and have not time to get my roots done.

Wagon Wheel Wednesday - I can't get that song out of my head

Before I start today's post, I have to share this song that I can't get out of my head.  The other night I was watching the CMT Festival Concert and one of the last performer was the lead singer of the band Hootie and the Blowfish and he sang his latest hit.  Just in case you don't know what I am talking about, here's the video.

Actually today, I just wanted to show the latest item that I bought from the store Tuesday Morning.  I was going to post it yesterday but I completely forgot about it.  They were so cute and it was so appropriate, so I bought it for myself.

Apron

Tea Towel
Although these colors does not match the kitchen decor or colors, I still love this set and will only use them when and if my girlfriends who loves golf is visiting.  Until then I will keep it in our linen closet.  It's mid week and I wish everyone a happy hump day.  Have you ever seen the GEICO commercial

Truthful Thursday - A new hair style

Every day has become a bad hair day because I had not seen my hair stylist for over a month.  I was debating if I should try to find a new stylist that is closer to home specially now that the gas price seems to be going up.  While I was out for a drive with Jeff last weekend, I noticed a hair salon and thought of checking it out.  The first person that I met is one of the hairstylist and his name is Erik.  The name of the salon is Elle Kiss Hair Studio.  I feel like I trying it out but Jeff said that I will have to break up with Wilson, my current hairstylist.  What is great about Wilson's Salon is that it feels like I am part of their family.  They other stylist always look after me when Wilson is away and they are all have great talents.  One other bonus is that when Paul (hair stylist from Orange County) is in town, I get to take advantage of his talent and skills.  As he says, when I am finished, you will feel and look like a star.  The last time I was at the salon, Wilson suggested a new style, new colors, new highlights, etc.  I am sure it will be a bit costly but it's so worth.  If I was younger, I can try one of this. But since I am going to be celebrating that big number soon, I probably should get a more classic style.  What exactly is that style?  Short and curly or straight and short?

Truthful Thursday - My favorite salon

It has been almost two years since I found the hairstylist that I would trust my hair with.  I believe that I have posted something about him and his best friend who is a hairstylist from Orange County (LA area).  This week I had my roots touch up and I decided to take some photos of the salon.  He recently added a new treasure inside the salon and it really gives a different feeling when you are getting your hair done.  What's so special in his salon is that he really treats me like a friend and sometimes like family.  He updates what he is doing with his home, his planned vacation as well as his cousin who recently had a baby.  Sometimes if he is busy, she takes over doing my roots or highlights or even a trim.  It's always a treat when I go for my hair appointment because they are so attentive.

I love their interior color scheme (white, black with red accent)
The door leads to a small room where we hang our coats
This is the new addition which still has to be painted - just the trim.
If you are ever in the Sunnyvale, Mountain View or San Jose area, you have to check this salon.  My next appointment, Wilson will add more highlights and possibly give me a new hair cut but still keeping the length.

Truthful Thursday - Not ready for total grey

It has been many years since the grey hair appeared and I am really not ready to be totally grey.  The problem is that my hair grows so fast that the roots starts changing after one week.  Because of several bad hair coloring product, I don't really trust doing it myself.  Sometimes I use a temporary color spray if I am going somewhere important, otherwise if I am playing tennis I wear a hat, if I am golfing I also wear a hat.  When the growth is almost an inch and I have to go out shopping or errands for my MIL, I put my hair in a pony tail and wear my Harley Davidson hat.  Every now and then, I am a bit daring and wear one of the wigs that I bought at this special store where the have really great price.  Here's my pony tail add on.
The color of this wig is very similar to my current high lights.
My next appointment will be in a few days and I am a bit excited because not only am I getting my roots done, I believe I will have some high lights and low lights.  It is also time to get a trim of my bangs and the ends to remove the dry part.

Timely Tuesday - Summer hair cut

When we picked up Gamble last Friday for his sleep over, we were very happy to see his new hair cut.  A summer hair cut is so timely because the weather can get hot and a short hair is perfect for boys who loves playing outdoors.  On Saturday morning before heading out to a couple of festival, Gamble wanted me to fix his hair.  I used a little bit of gel and hair spray to create a Mohawk effect in the middle of the head.  He actually liked the way I did it but I believe I would need to get one of those Twisted Taffy by Sebastian or Redken Pliable Styling Paste.  For his next sleep over, I will definitely have something available in the hopes that I will be the coolest Ola (Grandma).  We took him to a couple of Festivals which maybe was a bit too much but he had fun, won a few little toys and enjoyed some cotton candy.  He is very easy to entertain and such a great grandson.  We always look forward to our time with him and someday he will be able to spend a real weekend with us.  Of course we also look forward to having his sister tag along too.  But for now, we will enjoy whatever time we can get to see him.
He is growing very fast and looking like a big boy.
Gamble picked this baby slipper for his sister, unfortunately it was too small.

Fatuous Friday - Purposeless or Silly

Starting today, every Friday will be my FATUOUS Friday.  I was looking for something to post every Friday so I searched for some F word that would be fun and I chose this word which I have never heard off.  Fatuous - silly or purposeless.  This will be my fun day of being silly or posting something that is purposeless.  Of course this being silly will eventually wear out and I will have to look for another unusual word for Friday.

Wait a minute, today is Friday the 13th on a leap year in the year of the Dragon.  How would you interpret it?  What does this all mean?  Let me pretend to be a Psychic of the Day!!!
According to some Friday the 13th is an unlucky day because Friday is unlucky day and #13 is unlucky number.  I am sure you know several superstitions that are out there.

Yesterday I had another hair appointment as my roots needed a touch up job.  My hairstylist Wilson suggested that I buy this spray which covers the gray.  He also added that although it is good for his business when I come in, it's not great for my hair to have too much chemicals.  If my gray starts showing, I will just spray in the front and the top as there's not a lot at the back.  He says that it will save me some $$ but most of all it won't dry up my hair. The product is by Bumble & Bumble.  Although a little pricey it will definitely cover those grays.  Does this process sound silly?  I am sure it works and I will update you at a later blog.

Soulful Sunday - Good hair day and great nail art

My nail design for this week.  Doesn't it look professionally done.

Friday afternoon was a little quiet at home so I decided to do my nails.  Although it is a similar design from the last one, I really wanted to see if I can do a perfect one and I think I did.  Since it is still October and Halloween is not over yet, I thought it was still appropriate to do the same color theme of orange and Black.

Yesterday morning was my hair appointment day and was very lucky to have Paul as my hairstylist as he was in town.  I wanted to make sure I show you what my hair looks after he finishes playing with my hair.  My hair feels healthy, shiny and kinda cute.
I have never had my bangs cut with an electric trimmer.
After dinner last night, Jeff and I decided to do some BMI and BMR calculations and the results, we both have to lose 15 pounds in order to achieve the ideal weight.  OMG that's a lot and I know it will take a lot of work but we will sure try.  We will definitely do different ways (work out type) to achieve our goal.  One thing that will help both of us is measuring portions of our meals, find ways to use low calorie food, and avoid fast food meals.

When you think you have seen it all, you then see something that makes you say hmmmm.  Do you like watermelons?  I do but not served this way.
Not so clear but if you enlarge it, you can see that the bottom of the car is painted green.

Maybe Monday - Trying my new hair extention

Missing two posts for the weekend and now I feel like I have disappointed my followers.  That is the problem with missing my daily post.  You miss one, then you miss two and pretty soon, you miss the whole week.  Anyway, I would you like to take a poll about my new hair addition to my wig collection - really I only have two.

My friend Katrina and I were out shopping on Friday when I stumble on this very inexpensive pony tail addition.  It was only $5.99 and I found one that is a perfect match for my current hair color.  It nice to be able to have different hair style specially when you don't have the time to blow dry and flat iron your hair.  Well, what do you think?  Do you like it?
