Wordy Wednesday - Word Games

Crossword puzzles, Spelling Bee, Flags of the World, these are the latest games that I have been playing whenever I have a few minutes.  Sometimes I play before going to bed or while waiting for someone while I am in the car.  These are mind exercises that are suppose to keep the mind busy.  Lately I have been addicted to words.  But it has to be in a game form to make sure I get both fun and benefit.  My friend Jean and I saw this crossword puzzle book at the Barnes and Nobles.  Since it was on sale we decided to buy it and get back to doing it.  I didn't realize that she likes it as much as I do.  Sometimes we compare which puzzle we are completing.  With all the games available on our phone, Kindle, computer and of course my DS.  Using the old style of word games are great just in case you cannot use the new technology style.  Do you still play any games on your phone or tablet?  Do you have any favorite type of past time games or puzzles?  What type of brain games do you have?

Truthful Thursday - Seven in a row

My right shoulder is a bit sore because Jeff and I have been doing the bowling marathon on Wii.  We started on New Year's day and continued yesterday morning until Jeff got the pro ball.  Both of us have the pro ball and we are trying to get turkeys and six pack.  Yesterday morning I finally got seven pack - seven strikes in a row.  In order to share it with you, I took the photo of our scores.  Unfortunately, after 7 in a row, my luck ran out.  Now my goal is to get all the frames with strikes.  Just a bit worried about my shoulder so I am resting it for a couple of days and start again when it feels better.  Not to forget that I really need to start again with my Just Dance 3 game as part of my daily work out.

Just in case you missed my New Year's Day post, check it out so you can join my Two Year Give Away. There's still time because it does not end until January 14Don't be shy, join in.

Truthful Thursday - Name that LOGO

What are your secrets or tips when it comes to falling asleep?  Jeff use to call me "PON=Princess of Nap" because I was able to take naps or fall asleep just like that.  I am guessing that since retirement, I go to bed later and wake later unless I have an appointment or going one of my volunteer days.  Back in the days when I was working, I would do my laundry right after work.  The process was a bit funny because in the apartment where we lived, we had to go to the second floor where the laundry room was located.  I would start with loading the washer and then return to our apartment and take a nap.  After 45 minutes I would wake up and go back to the laundry room to transfer clothes from washer to dryer, go back upstairs, return to the my nap and wake up an hour later just in time to pick up the clothes from the dryer.  I am not really sure how I trained to perfectly time it but it did work.  Now a days, it takes a bit more time to fall asleep at night.  Sometimes I read a book from my Kindle or play a game on Jeff's Kindle Fire.  I started with Angry Birds, Crossword Lite, IQ quiz, Sneezies and the latest addiction is the Logo Quiz.  One time I stayed up until 3:00 am because I was doing so well earning points and hints.  Then I discovered that the answers can be found at LOGOSQUIZNow it does not seem that exciting and I might have to find a new game to help me fall asleep.

Favorite Friday - Games that I love

The last couple of nights, Jeff and I  have violated our bed time rule which is NO playing games on our phone or Kindle before going to sleep. The name of the game is called SNEEZIES.  My daughter introduced me to this game when I was visiting her last summer in Toronto.  When I got my new cell phone last year, I was playing a lot of Angry Birds and forgot about Sneezies.  Since Jeff got his Kindle last year he has only added a few games and that included Sneezies, Router, and all the Angry Birds.  What is funny is that I got him to agree that we play a little bit before going to sleep because it makes my eyes tired.  We take turns playing it and we made up our own rule as we go along.  It's so funny sometimes because the goal is to clear as many of these sneezies and meet the target.  When one does not make at least half of the target number, then we have to let the other person try.  I know it's a little bit childish but we sometimes laugh at each other when we get such low numbers.  Here's some of my favorite games that I play on my phone and on Jeff's Kindle Fire.
  • Angry Birds
  • Angry Birds Seasonal
  • Angry Birds Rio
  • Angry Birds Space
  • Sneezies
  • Farting Smiles
  • Flow Free
  • Router
