Sincerely Sunday - Happy Mother's Day!

Just because I am a mother, it doesn't mean I should be doing anything today.  I couldn't let this day go by without doing a post, even if it is a very short one.  So here's to all the mother's who are following my blog, my faithful readers and for those who just happen to stumble on this page.  Happy mother's day and hope you are enjoying your special day.  Today I dedicate this song that I love (mother and daughter's love).

Tootsie Tuesday - MIL's birthday

You are probably wondering who is Tootsie.  That is my MIL's nickname and today is her birthday.  It's not a special birthday but it's going to be a simple one, just the way she likes it.
I may have mentioned that she loves lady bugs.  In fact she has two other neighbors that she has been friends for many years that also loves lady bugs.  They meet every Thursday and they do something interesting each week.  If you had a chance to meet my MIL, you would remember that she has a great sense of humor and she is so much fun to be with.  You also would remember her for her baking skills.  Jeff would say that she makes the best chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cupcakes with her special frosting.  My friends back in Canada remembers her for that special Chinese Chews.  Although she is considered a senior, she is very much into current technology.  She is very interested in learning and is not afraid to try on new things.  Whether it is a new app on her phone or a new game or a new ringtone, she is up for downloading and trying it out.  But the one thing that she can't resist - anything that is ladybug.  So for her birthday, we got her something with lady bug but I can't show you the photo because she does check my blog every now and again.

Happy Birthday Tootsie!  May you have many more happy birthdays to come.  Stay young at heart!

Special Sunday - Happy Mother's Day to all

Happy mother's day to all mother's and even grandmother's.  As this is my day too, I am not doing anything that involves house chores.  Since we have Jeff's grandkids until about 1000 this morning,  I did not have a choice but to help him as it's too much for one person.  Jeff will be making dinner for me and his mother.  Last Friday, we visited the new PGA store in Palo Alto and there it was, my new set of golf clubs.  I have decided that I will be getting it for me as my mother's day gift to myself because I deserve it.  Check out my new set of friends.

Maybe this will improve my gave as these are better quality clubs that my five year old ones.  It has my favorite color green and the bag is really light.  The clubs are also lighter than my old set.  I am so happy with this mother's day gift and I look forward to playing golf next week.  What did you get you get for mother's day?  Flowers, chocolate, jewellery?

Special Sunday - Happy Mother's Day

Today is my day off.  Well actually every day is my day off since I retired.  But today is a special day off.  For all the mothers out there, you should take a day off because you deserve it. Why take a day off?  Because it's the one day that we should enjoy for all the hard work we have done for many years and for many more to come.  Some might think that they don't deserve it.  Don't ever think twice about not taking a day off.  Some might ask, well am I going to do.  NOTHING is the answer.  Aside for waking up and getting ready for today, that's about it.  Just in case you forgot, the following list is a reminder of what you won't be doing today.
  • cooking
  • washing dishes
  • laundry
  • house cleaning
  • tidying up
  • ironing
  • making the bed
  • grocery shopping
  • driving
  • any other things that a mother usually do
This day only comes once a year and you should enjoy it to the fullest.  Happy Mother's day to all and may your day be surrounded by lots of cards, gifts, great food, awesome drinks, thoughtful children and loving husband.

Soulful Sunday - Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of my fellow blogger, followers and anyone else who is a Mother.
I thought of doing a little tribute to my mother, my mother in law and me because I am a mom.
MY MOTHER - her name is Estrella, her nickname is Star and she loves music.  When she retired, she volunteered her time providing music at several nursing home.  Arts and crafts is another favorite and she volunteered teaching at the senior centre.  I remember her being a strict mom and was always lecturing us about life, etc.  She means well and I guess we learned a lot from her.  She was a mom that we respect, obeyed, and loved.  We have a mother-daughter relationship but I don't think I can say that we have a mother daughter friendship.  I guess because we grew up in a different generation.

MY MOTHER IN LAW - her name is Annette, her nickname is Tootsie and she is the most technologically advanced senior that I have met.  Right from the first time we met, I knew that we would get along really well.  Before moving to San Jose, we use to write snail mail and I love getting her letters and cards as it would be full of stickers ( i love stickers and collect them).  She is caring, thoughtful, easy going, helpful, and has a great sense of humor.  We volunteer together, shop together, go for lunch,  take Spanish class, go to matinees together and of course she bakes the best chocolate chip cookies and Chinese chews.  Ooops, I almost forgot,  she makes the best tasting gravy.  She is my mother-in-law and my friend.

Me as a MOM - my name is Lucia and my nickname is Luckie.  I am in deed very lucky to be a mom of two wonderful kids.  A daughter and a son who were very happy as children, well behaved as teenagers and very cool as adults.  They were so cool that I am allowed to hang out with them and their friends.  There were times that I would get invited for a birthday party or any other party and I am the only older guests ( I was the only parent).  All the friends of my son and daughter calls me by my nickname.  I am very very lucky to be a mom who was respected, obeyed and loved but most of all I am so happy to have that special friendship with them.

M - Memories
O - Optimistic
T - Thoughtful Teacher
H - Helpful
E - Endearing
R - Respected

Happy Day all you Mothers out there :)
