Friendly Friday - Boys Poker Night

It has been a while since we last hosted a Poker Night at home.  Jeff's friends from work have been doing this for a few years now.  Each one takes turn hosting the Friendly Friday Night Poker.  It is usually every six weeks and they would have between six to eight  players.  Most of the time it's usually the guys but every now and then, they might need one or two players which means two of the wives will join in the game.  As for the food, the host will have a variety of appetizers, etc.  All the other players bring some drinks and snacks.  The bet starts low but sometimes it does get a bit high and if I was playing, Jeff always reminds me to play conservatively.  In order to stay in longer and not have to buy in for more chips, I do have to be careful and bet wisely and smart.  These are some of the games we play.
  • Texas Holdem
  • Omaha
  • Follow the Queen
  • Chicago
  • Christmas Tree
  • 7 card stud
  • Pass the trash
  • Criss Cross
  • Graveyard
  • 5 card stud
  • No Peak
Jeff's favorite one is the last one called NO PEAK.  The funny thing is that he seems to be the first player out because the rule is that you do not open any for your card until the betting starts.  As soon as the card is dealt, the first thing Jeff does is open his cards.  Unfortunately this is also my favorite but it gets very costly if you decide to stay in.  So unless you have an awesome winning cards, then you will decide to be out of the game at an earlier stage.
