Simly Saturday - Fight of MP at Mandalay Bay

Boxing is not a sport that I follow but since the boxer is Manny Pacquiao who is one of the famous boxer from the Philippines, I have to do a short post in honor of his big fight today at Mandalay Bay.  Last week while in Las Vegas, we have seen a lot of Filipinos and overheard the conversations.  Basically every one is there for this big fight today.  Even though I won't be watching him fight, I am wishing only good wishes for him to win this fight.  But in case he does not win, he can always go back to doing Kareoke or his commercials or being a comedian.

Good luck to Manny and I hope you can beat Marquez in less than 10 rounds and really prove that he is #1.  Go Manny Go.

FITB Friday - Remembrance Day

A little late in my Friday post but I cannot let this day go by with doing my Remembrance Day Special Post.  Last year this day, I was not into blogging yet.  I wrote a poem and I think my daughter or my sister posted it on their blog.  This year, I would like to share the same poem (with a little change) from last year and then follow the FITB Friday.
1.   My favorite new blog of the moment is    http://blarkness.blogspot.com/.

2.   Something I am thankful for is  my retired life in sunny San Jose  .

3.  Something that made me laugh this week was    while in our hotel room in Las Vegas, my MIL thought she saw a daddy long leg spider but actually is a knot of my hair .

4. An item that is currently on my wish list is    a golf pull cart by Bag Boy .

5.  I am excited about    hosting this year's US Thanksgiving Dinner with some of our relatives.

6.  If I were a color I would be     pink - it's bright, it's girly, it's young, it's sexy and loving .

7.  My favorite way to spend a chilly fall day is by    cooking my favorite soup or having my favorite coffee or tea with my favorite treat with my hubby.

Winning Wednesday - Wishing Very Hard

What is the largest amount of money you have won either playing the lottery, slots or any game at a Casino? I remember many years ago I was at Casino in Ontario with a friend and we were about to leave when I decided to play the pig slot machine which was my favorite at that time.  After two spins I somehow got lucky and went into the bonus round.  It kept going and when it finally stopped, I won $1,000 and the bell started ringing.  The attendant came by and gave me 10 x $100 very crisp bill.  And to think that I was ready to leave but thought maybe I should just try one more machine.  For some that is not a big amount, but I was a very happy kid that night.

Since then most of the machines have been changed and some of them a little too complicated.
If you were at a Casino, do you pick certain slots or do you just pick what ever is available.
Do you play the simple 3 reels or do you like playing the ones with bonus rounds?  I saw this pig machine but it is not the same one that I have played before but it looks like a fun machine.

I am going to try to find this type of machine and hope the piggies will bring me luck.

Timely Tuesday - Dueling Piano

Have you ever been to a bar with a Dueling Piano?  The first time I have been was when Jeff and I was in San Antonio, Texas sometime in December 2004.  We were just walking one evening in their downtown area and we stumbled into the pub that has a Dueling Piano.  We stayed there not just for one drink but for at least 3 hours.  It was so much fun and the people in the bar were really into the singing with the tow guys playing the piano.

The next time was during the my wedding in Las Vegas.  After the wedding, a few of my friends went to dinner and afterwards we met some of our other friends who were at the Dueling Piano bar but I can't remember which hotel it was.  Anyway, we tried to get in but unfortunately we couldn't get in as it was packed.  We were still able to hear the music as we walk along the side of the pub.
While checking out some of the hotels in Las Vegas, I just noticed that one of the pub inside the Monte Carlo has a Dueling Piano.

Maybe Monday - No Volunteer

After 14 months of Monday volunteer, we did our last volunteer Monday on October 31.  The new girl and I mean girl who has been hired by the company looks like a high school student.
She mentioned she did 10 days of volunteer and now she is our boss.  My MIL and I thought we would try it out and see how she is and how the new company that took over will treat us.  It's very interesting that two employees were with one and for only 3 hours.  The previous two worked at least 5 or 6 hours per day and now they are expecting the new employee to do everything in 3 hours.  I am guessing they are expecting the volunteers to do a lot more.  Maybe we really have to re examine our volunteer time.  We know that the seniors are the one that wants all the volunteers back because they have known some of us for a very long time.  In the meantime, my MIL is taking a day off today.

During the weekend while we were out and about, I saw a patch of Sunflower plants along the side of the road.  They were so big and since it was a nice afternoon, they looked very pretty so I thought I'd share them with you.

I have taken some of the flowers that my MIL gave me and rearranged them on some of my vases.  I just love having fresh flowers all around the house.  It makes it homey and alive.
Have a Happy Monday, a very flowery Monday.  Sometimes all it takes are pretty flowers to make your day.

Soulful Sunday - More Memories

Sometime ago I think I posted something that I was going to use my Sunday post to write about my son. I thought it would be too much and maybe too sad every time I have to recall stories. Someone told me that writing about Gino might help ease some of the pain that I still feel and for some it helps in the grieving process.  I realize this will always going to be a sad post for those who knew Gino but it could also be a place for me to remember all the great memories we have with him.

Side by side with Gino

Not sure why Gino is not smiling.
I was looking for some photos with Gino and I together and I found these on Jeff's album which he took while he was visiting Canada in October 2005.

Simly Saturday - Scary Gamble

It has been almost a month since Gamble's sleepover.  It has been a busy October and we were not able to see him as much due to conflicting schedules.  We finally got him back last night and before I forget here's what he and his sister look on Halloween.

Gamble as a Zombie
Greenly in her ballet outfit
If I have not mentioned before, Gamble started going to school at the end of August. According to his mom he is really enjoying school.  Last night after watching Cars 2, he decided he did not want to stay and sleep over.  We ended up driving him back to his parents place.  For some reason he says he is scared to sleep in our guest bedroom which is the same bed he has been sleeping since he started sleeping over.  He says he misses his Mommy and Daddy.
