Three Tuesday - May need a new hobby

Lately I have been considering taking up a new hobby or a new sport or a new project.  Today when I do my three on Tuesday (Yes, No, Maybe),  I hope to get some feedback from my readers and maybe even get a few suggestions on this recent dilemma.

• YES - return to reading books (Kindle or paperback) and start sewing again
• NO - to learning a new sport - I love golf and tennis 
• MAYBE - try very hard to go for a walk daily to help improve some of my health issues.  Enrol in another Spanish class or maybe even an art class at the Senior Centre. Find a part-time job that is interesting and fun without the stress.

If you are reading this and have some great tips or suggestions on what to do with my extra time, I would love to read hear your comments.

Mundane Monday - No Silver Lining

Another late post but I have another two and a half hours before today ends.  I was wondering if I needed a new hobby because my schedule is getting a little mundane.  At the moment I can't think of anything that I wanted to start.  I should start reading books again either on my Kindle or books we get free from the library.  There are a few things that I still need to sew for my MIL but because it's not an urgent request, I have been putting if off.  I should really get them done because her birthday is coming up in a couple of months.  Today Jeff and I watched Silver Linings Playbook.  It was not my choice nor Jeff's either, it was the only one available that is being shown at the time we arrived at the theatre.  There were other choices that might have been better but they were later in the evening.  The mall was packed because of President's Day holiday which was the first mistake.  Anyway, we did watch it and I am so disappointed because I thought it would be a really good movie.  After seeing Argo and Zero Dark Thirty, this movie was one of those that should have been a TV movie.  Although it had received some great reviews and awards, Jeff and I decided it was just ok and that maybe we could have waited until it was available On Demand for free.  I really don't have anything more to say about this movie, so if you have not seen it or contemplating on seeing it, please don't waste your money,  just wait until it's available on TV.  This movie even made our Monday more mundane instead of it being a special day off.

 

Sour Sunday - SAP open review

If the tickets are free then I guess I don't have the right to complain.  But I still want to make a few comments about this past couple of days of the SAP open tennis.  First of all I am so glad that I did not purchase the tickets for the two day event.  Although yesterday we were seated in one of those BOX aka SUITE and felt pretty important.  We did not have a lot of food or drinks but it was still very comfortable that I was able to take a nap in the leather sofa.  Now why would I take a nap, you might ask.  Well, this is one of the complaints I have.  Their scheduling sucks.  On Friday we waited over half an hour before the first match started and then after that match, we had to wait another hour or so before the second match which lasted only about an hour.  It was very disappointing and like what I said I am glad I did not pay for the tickets because it would have been a money wasted.  Yesterday, when we arrive at the Pavillion, we were told that the first match would not even start at 1230.  Our tickets and the program indicated that the the first match was at 1130.  So another hour wasted.  The first match was between Tommy Haas and John Isner which was an ok match but only lasted 51 minutes.  It was time to get something to eat.  Jeff got a beer ($7.50) and hotdog ($5.50)  It's a rip off right.  Then it was time for me to go out and try to get something.  Since I did not want to eat the hot dog, I opted for the Kung Pao Chicken by Panda Express.  It came in a small bowl with rice and the chicken ($9.75).  If you have been to one of those chinese food take out, this would only cost probably under $5.  When I return to the suite, I was told that we would have to wait over a couple of hours for the next match which was between Milos Raonic (Canadian) and Sam Querry (USA).  Since we were already there we thought we would wait just in case they decide to play a little early. After my lunch and maybe another 30 minutes, that's when I felt tired and sleepy.  Now you know what happened.  When I woke up, everyone one was still there just waiting.  In the end we only watch the first set of the match and it was time to go home because we were picking up the grandkids.  According to our tickets it cost $100 per seat for Saturday and for our Friday game it was around $79.  No wonder why the place was half empty.  I believe the fans last year were not too impressed with the scheduling, the food, etc.  And I gave up a round of golf yesterday for having the experience of watching tennis from the BOX.  Everything is over rated, over priced and overly long hours of nothingness. 

Sitting Saturday - That is Babysitting

Well, it's that time again for us to look after the grandchildren overnight to give their Dad a break.  It has been a while since we have them sleepover.  We have not seen both Gamble and his sister Greenlee since around Christmas.  Their schedules have change so we don't have Gamble sleepover every other weekend like we use to. Unfortunately, Jeff will have to watch them by himself on Sunday because I have to go to my volunteer work.  I am guessing it's not going to be to hard for Jeff because it will only be for a couple of hours before they are picked up.  Jeff also mentioned that we will have to start thinking of what we can do with them during the summer months when they stay with us. My reply was that I hope that we will have the energy to entertain two energetic kids for half a day and maybe more.  

Just a little update on the SAP Open from yesterday when my MIL and I watched two single matches.  At first we did not get to sit where we should be because it was KIDS morning and I am sure you know that means.  It was at least thousands of children that were loud and annoying. Sorry, I love my children but these were kids that seemed like they just got out of solitary confinement.  Anyway, the benefit of the little change of seating, I got to meet someone special.  It was funny because no one recognized him except me.  He was very casual and just not making any big deal.  I approached him and got an autograph and he was very nice about it.  I found out that his daughter is married to Tom Haas (tennis player).  

The autograph is from David Foster, composer/song writer. He wrote my name as "Lucky"

 

Free Friday - A lot of tennis

It's always nice when you get some surprises specially when you least expect it.  This is the second year that my MIL got us some tickets for free for the SAP Open Tennis held at the HP Pavillion.  This year we got tickets for just the two of us and the other set of tickets are for me, Jeff and my MIL.  Not only that the tickets are free, parking is also free, another bonus as sometimes they charge more when it's a special event.  The other surprise is that the tickets for the three of us is located in one of those box.  We have never sat at one of those and I know it will be great because I notice how expensive each ticket cost.  As you know I really love Tennis, watching it live and of course Jeff and I enjoys playing it as well.

Toonie Thursday - Happy Valentines/Birthday

Two of my friends, both from Ontario is celebrating their birthdays today.  But since it's also Valentines day, I am also wishing them a Happy Valentines.  That's why it's toonie Thursday.

Wait Wednesday - Brain Freeze

There are still a few more hours before midnight and I did not want to miss today's post.  I tried last night to do this post but I believe you call it brain freeze.  My fingers were stuck to the position and was not moving at all.  When I got home from my volunteer work, I turned the TV on to see if I could pick up an idea for today's post.  Unfortunately it was a bit depressing as they talk about Diabetes, Cancer, people who were killed, and the homeless.

Since tomorrow is Valentine's day, I decided to make a list of ideas for those of you who still have not bought a gift for your love one, partner, friend or family.  Maybe instead of buying a gift, do something different that is not a material item.

• Pick a day to give your husband or wife and day off and offer to do their chore
• Call a family member who might need a little help at home
• Take a friend for breakfast before going to work
• Plan a day with your child to do something they really like to do
• Spend time with a relative you have not seen for awhile

Now I feel better that I did not miss today's blogging even if no one stops by to read it.
