Welcoming Wednesday - New Flowers

Now that I started this weekly update on my new and old plants, I might as well continue and provide some update photos on some of the latest blooms.  Last year my neighbor gave us a few plants ( two types of iris and another couple of other grassy type).  At first I planted them in big pots but after speaking with my BFF who is a master gardener from Ontario, we took them out of their pots and planted them on the ground in the fall.  All of them survived the winter months and now in the spring, they have all come back to live.  Last week, I have noticed a bunch of them having blossoms.  And very interesting enough, the yellow and green leaves have bluish purple flower that smells like bubble gum.  While the green leaves have the yellow blooms.  By the way, one of the plant that I got this year is called Periwinkle.  I bought it because of the name, I planted it and then when the flower came out, I had to google it to see if it was actually my periwinkle.  LOL.  Now introducing all the new flowers.

Tulips Thursday - Amazing colors

This is the second part of my post from Monday.  Although this time it will be all about tulips and other flowers.  While we were at the nursery last weekend, I was able to take photos of some of the flowers they had on their front parking lot.  Some of the other photos were taken from our golf course and there's one of the very nice color tulips that is from our front yard.  In addition, I took another photo of the turtles and the mother duck and her ducklings.

Wild Wednesday - Flowers and more

One day last week I decided to pull some unwanted plants aka weeds. It took over an hour to finish the whole front yard. It was a very sunny and warm day so I couldn't believe how much sweat was dripping from my forehead.  Since I am not familiar with some of the plants versus weeds, I started pulling one green plant thinking it was weed but when I pulled all the way through, there was a bulb at the end of the weed.  Oops, so I tried to put it back in.  So hopefully I have only pulled the right unwanted plants.  The next day my hubby took a photo of this plant in the backyard and I thought that someone planted it.  But my hubby said it's not real plants but some type of weed.  Oh bother.  Now I have decided to maybe just try planting herbs and some vegetables this year instead of flowers that I don't have a clue which ones are annuals or perennials.  To me they are all just colorful flowers.

Walking Wednesday - Flowers are blooming

Whenever we go for our walk around the neighborhood, we always find interesting items that might be good to share on my blog.  Since spring has arrived, I have been taking photos of flowers that are blooming on everyone's yard.  Although I have some that are starting to show some flowers or that some plants are alive, this one particular home had their front yard covered with very colorful blooms.  Now that everyone is at home, I am sure the yards from the neighborhood will be very well manicured.  More plants are getting planted and most weeds are pulled and grass are all cut very short.  What have you been doing in your yard or garden.  By the way, I forgot to mention that my hubby bought 5 fruit trees in the hopes that we will get something to pick next year.

From my front yard

This was the succulent that I got from the gardener at our golf course.

These were the flowers from one of the neighborhood front garden.

Floral Friday - What's around the home

Now that the fall season has arrived, I decided to change some of the flowers in and around our home.  Last weekend we were able to catch a couple more garage sale and I found a couple of really nice ceramic vase.  In addition to that, there was a bunch of fall colored faux flowers that I thought I could use.  If you remember on one of my other post, I changed the pot/vase for our front door arrangement.  I thought it would be nicer to have something taller and sure enough it was more noticeable than the previous low one I had.  In fact I decided to add more orange flowers to the arrangement to make it fuller.  Now I am very happy to share those photos that I remembered to take.

Floral Friday - Climate Change Theme

A few weeks ago, one of my BFF from Ontario mentioned to me a Flower Arrangement Exhibit that she will be entering some of her pieces.  I asked her if she doesn't mind sending me those photos so I can feature them on my blog for this Friday.  Well, she did and she had receive several ribbons for it.  One first place, another for second place and 4 pieces at third place.  In addition she received 3 honorable mentions and one was the judge's favorite.  She entered a total of 9 pieces and each one received an award.  They are amazing flower arrangement and I believe most of these flowers are from her very own garden.  I am not really sure what their titles are but some of them are Wind, Rainforest, Wildfire, Drought, Heat and Chaos.  I was wondering if you can pick which flower has these titles.  Of course only she can tell me if they are right.  So if you have time, them leave me a comment of what you guessed.

Multicolored Monday - Flowers around the course

Every now and then my BFF who is a master gardener from Ontario sends me some photos of the flowers in her garden.  She was truly hoping that I would be there to see them in her garden.  For now she just shares some photos.  This is when I thought I should take some of the photos of the flowers in the golf course that I played last Thursday.  I couldn't help it as they were so pretty and colorful.  Today's post is another one of those stop and smell the roses day, but actually no roses, just beautiful colorful assorted flowers. Enjoy while they last.
These are flowers from my BFF's garden.

Do you know the names of any of these flowers?  I am confident that my BFF can name all of them.

Floral Friday - Fresh and lovely

It has been a very long time since I have received fresh flowers as a gift.  Last week when one of my girlfriend visiting from Ontario was in town, she visited us and stayed for dinner.  It has been over 4 years since I last saw her.  So many changes in our lives and there was so much catching up.  She arrive at our house with a big bouquet of flowers and some beverages.  We had a really nice visit but it was too short.  I am hoping that she comes back again when she visits her family in Vancouver.  There was a lot of flowers that I had to split them in two vases to accommodate all the stems.  Of course I remembered to take a photo to share.  The following week, while chatting with another BFF from Ontario, she shared some of the photos she has taken of her garden.  I ask her permission to share them on my blog.  The other photos were taken either form the golf course or from our garden.  You remember that expression, stop and smell the roses?  Well, today is a good day to stop and enjoy any type of flower you see, except of course, if you have allergies, then maybe you might not enjoy sniffing them.

Friendship Flower Friday - Similar blooms

This weekend my friend who is a master gardener shares some of the flowers in her garden. When I received the photos it definitely reminded me of recent photos I took at our nearby golf course.  And the other photo is similar to the one we have in our front yard.  Let me see if my memory is still good.  I will try to get my photos first and then my friend's pictures.  In case you are wondering where this post is going, well it's just comparing pictures of flowers.  I understand it is a little boring, but sometimes, you need to stop for a moment and admire the beauty of the flowers around you.
