Sincerely Saturday - August celebrants

There are so many birthday celebrants for the month of August that I am making today's post special for all my family and friends.  It's definitely the month that has the most names in our calendar.  Some of them are sharing the same date which is amazing.  It makes you wonder if there's a truth about six degrees of separation.  So I'm sending my birthday wishes to the following and hoping that their day will be filled with happiness.   

• August 6 - Mike 
• August 8 - Russ
• August 16 - Jeff, Gil and Anjay
• August 18 - Lisa
• August 25 - Tom
• August 26 - Carlos, Marie, Allister and Gino (My son's 34th birthday if)
• August 28 - Gord
• August 29 - Brock
• August 30 - Joe

There are 13 candles for everyone except for Gino.

I wonder if Gino would like the Minions too.

Turning Tuesday - 50 is the new 40

A few of my friends are turning the magic number this year.  I still remember how I celebrated my big 50th birthday.  It's the best birthday of my life and I hope that it will be the same for my friends.  Today, I thought of listing 50 things that they might or should do when you turn this milestone year.  The list is a mixture of what I think was the best from each of the list I found online.

1. Take a photo of your favorite corner of your home.
2. Pay for someone's coffee or tea anonymously.
3. Eat a whole lobster.
4. Try to draw a picture one day during the week of your birthday to capture a moment .
5. Give as many compliments as you can during the month of your birthday.
6. Plan that trip whether it's a day trip, a weekend or a whole week, and GO.
7. Watch a funny movie with a friend or other half.
8. Try a new drink with your BFF.
9. Stop and smell the roses and other flowers too.
10. Make special dinner for your better half.
11. Sorry I ran out of ideas.  Just enjoy this year because it's all about you.

Similar Saturday - Happy birthday to J and G

Today two friends celebrate their birthday.  Not only that they have the same birthdays, they definitely have a lot of similarities for having born the same day.  Here's a few of them.

• Same employer
• Wears the same brand of jeans
• Wears hawaiian shirts
• Wear tennis/runners shoes to work
• Owns eco friendly car
• Owned convertible car prior to eco car
• Lives in the same city
• Has one child
• Likes their steak medium rare
• Likes their eggs over easy
• Uses a lot of ground black pepper
• Places their left hand inside their jean pocket while grilling

Toonie Thursday - Happy Valentines/Birthday

Two of my friends, both from Ontario is celebrating their birthdays today.  But since it's also Valentines day, I am also wishing them a Happy Valentines.  That's why it's toonie Thursday.

Wishful Wednesday - August birthdays

A very busy month for birthdays that is why I am posting this today so I can send one awesome birthday greetings to all my family and friends.  Until about a couple of years ago, I did not realize how many of our friends and relatives are celebrating this month.  To all of the August celebrants, I wish you many more years of happy birthdays and may all your wishes come true.

Of course there is also the special week where I get to hang out with my favorite daughter here in San Jose.  There is only 12 more sleep and I can't wait for her arrival and spend every special moment doing the things that she loves to do, cooking for her and just enjoying her time.  I know she is a little uncomfortable travelling alone but I know that she will do very well.  Thank you Mike (SIL) for allowing your wife to take the time and visit her mom.

Timely Tuesday - Birthdays and more

A very special day for Jeff as it his special number birthday.  Since he did not want to have anything big like a celebration party or one night of drinking and partying, we had a quiet dinner for him at his mom's home last Sunday.  We might go out for dinner again to celebrate with another couple who happens to have the same birthday with Jeff.  I remembered to take photos.

My MIL made this chocolate cupcakes with nuts

Can you believe that Jeff's mom kept this cutting board that Jeff made when he was in Grade 7.  I guess this was his project for his Wood Shop class.  Now I can understand why he is so good at home renovations.

My MIL also has kept this dust pan all these years.  This was Jeff's Grade 8 project for his Metal Shop class.  Jeff was only 13 when he made this.  His mom says that it is the best dust pan ever as it is really easy to sweep into.

At this time I would also like to wish a happy birthday to Gil who is Jeff's friend from work, as well as to Anjay of Oakville, Ontario.  Anjay is one of my son's best friend.  

Tonight, I will give Jeff my surprise birthday gift.  I got the idea from him 8 years ago when I turned 50.
