Thor Thursday - Meet the new addition

Don't get too excited, it's not the same as having a new addition to the family.  It's more like a new

addition to the collection of vehicle that Jeff has.  He finally got the RV that he wanted and we had to go all the way to Phoenix, AZ to get it.  Last week we flew to Phoenix and we were picked up by Hunter, the sales person that Jeff has been dealing with.  Prior to arriving to their site, we pass by Walmart to get some of the important supplies for a first time RV owners.  Since we only had our carry on luggage, we had to but all the hoses, special toilet paper, bedding, and others I can't remember.  Hunter decided to stop for lunch at a special BBQ place that he recommended.  It was his treat and that was nice.  We got to their office and Jeff sat down with their finance manager to get all the paper work started.  They offered for us to stay in our new RV on their site and gave us a car to use for the evening to go for dinner or do more shopping.  We had dinner at a Casino and had their special for the night - Seafood boil.  For the next few days, I will be posting our journey from Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and back to California.  Of course I will include photos of scenes from the trip as well as meals we shared with friends, meals I prepared in our RV kitchen and other meals.

Mechanical Monday - Only in the Silicon valley

For some reason I got stuck again when I started this post until Jeff sent me a photo of something interesting he saw at their parking lot at work.  At first I thought, someone has invented a new remote control toy and is trying it out.  Then again, just maybe it's actually something useful that their company is trying.  I zoomed into the picture and I sort of can read the word security.  So check out the new robot replacing the security guy that usually goes around the parking lot to check on suspicious movement, etc.  I am guessing this must be an expensive toy but it's probably cheaper than paying a security company guy minimum wage.  It's probably more accurate and because it will have a camera it can record as many incidents, etc.  Now I am wondering if they have a name for it.  Oh who cares, I decided to name it with Jeff's help.

This is like Alexa's daughter.  If you have lot's of room in your house, you would want a few of this.

Timely Thursday - Atomic Clock

Last year our cousins left us a gift before they returned to the other country.  It's funny because usually you give a going away present to the people leaving.  But our cousins were different because they are so generous and so appreciative of any little favor we do.  We miss them and hope that they will come back soon.  Only time will tell.  Talking about time - the gift was an atomic clock.  We have never had an atomic clock but we love it because of the large numbers and it provides the temperature indoor and outdoor.  The other bonus is that you don't have to change the time twice a year when the world decides to change time.  You are probably wondering what is so special about this clock.  The other day I took a photo of it because I saw something interesting and I thought it was a great topic for my post.  

As you can see, Jeff sets the temperature in Celcius so that when my Canadian family and friends ask for the temperature, I don't have to calculate.  Notice that at this particular time the indoor and outdoor numbers are the same.

 

Solution Sunday - How to keep warm

Did I mention already how my husband is so thoughtful? He is always looking out for me.  The other day another package arrived shortly after my daughter's package.  Since it was addressed to Jeff, of course I don't open anything if it's not my name.  He does a lot of ordering on line and he has not mentioned anything about a new toy.  When he came home, he opened the package and there it was, a new toy for me.  It's my new electric blanket for when I am sitting in our living room watching TV, blogging, reading or whatever it is that requires me to sit down.  I have been using it for a few days now and it keeps me warm and it is very comfy.  I believe it's a cheaper way to keep warm when we get those cold weather than blasting the heater.  The temperature control keeps it at a perfect setting for a number of hours.  Now that I have tested the new toy, Jeff will be ordering one for him.  If he can find a nicer more girly color, he will keep the older one and I will end up with the new one.  See, he is very thoughtful and such a wonderful person.

Maybe Monday - Math Recall

Remember the saying "what you don't use, you lose".  If your previous job does not involve a lot of Math or if you do, a calculator is provided.  Last night my husband had to give me a crash course of ELAPSE TIME.  The truth is, Math is not my favorite subject in school and I honestly can say I suck at it.  But as part of my volunteer as a Starter at the Golf Course,  I am required to notate the start time and end time for the Front 9. The start times are easy and the end time at the 9th hole is also easy but sometimes I miss them when I get busy.  My problem is calculating the elapse time and I know it's not hard but I seem to have lost the ability to do it quickly.  After a few tests and I was starting to get the hang of it, my geeky husband said "I am sure there's an APP for that on your phone".  Sure enough he found one, added it to my phone and TA TADA DA!!!  It's like magic.  Now on my next shift, I will be just entering the times and instantly get the correct elapse time.  Thanks to the APPS Market and to technology, I can now record a perfect elapse time.  On another subject, although my Math skill is not the best, I consider myself a very good speller - maybe good enough for the next Senior Spelling Bee Contest.
