Super Saturday - It's huge

Have you seen a really huge pomagranate?  I cannot believe that my friend Byddie picked this fruit from their tree?  She gave me two large and one small size.  I got so excited that I had to open the really huge one.  My sister should me how to take the inside of this fruit using a wooden spoon.  A very easy way and it only too me ten minutes to get all the seeds out.  You can see how much I have collected from this one fruit.  Since my friend is the one I call the Master Gardener, this fruit is very sweet and she has a secret way with her fruit trees. 

This container was filled right to the top. I couldn't wait to taste it.

Tasty Thursday - What makes me feel better

There are so many good things to eat everyday but when you are sick with whatever, then even the most expensive fruit or steak or lobster just doesn't cut it.  Yesterday Jeff ask me to come out to the back yard and check out one of his plants.  A few months ago he planted some upside down strawberry.  Remember this photo?

It's hard to believe but there's at least two strawberries on this hanging plant.  Even if it's only one ready to pick, it was such a perfect one.  Jeff thought that it will make me feel good once I taste the product of his gardening talent.  I remembered to take a photo before I consumed the one strawberry.  Jeff had a bite and he let me eat the rest.  It was the sweetest strawberry that I have ever tasted.  It had the right texture and just enough juice.

Perfect shape with no bumps or dents.  I almost did not want to eat it but I did not want it wasted.

Truthful Thursday - Orange or Cutie

With the latest flu epidemic, it's time to load up on your vitamin C, right.  My MIL gave us a bunch of oranges from her tree.  It would have been a happy experience if my sister was the one picking all these oranges.  When she was visiting in November, she had a great time taking photos of these oranges but since they were not ready to be picked, she just checked them out.  She was able to pick up some lemons at my cousins place.  I hope my sister will read this post today, maybe she might recognize some of these oranges.

Unfortunately I am not into this type of oranges, instead I love the CUTIES and I just bought a bag and they were very sweet.  It's good that Jeff loves oranges and if he does not eat them, he can make fresh orange juice.  Whatever the type of orange you love, its a good source of vitamin C and although it's not a cure for the common flu, it's a healthy snack.

Fruity Friday - Orange Tree

What is so special about an orange tree with a lot of oranges?  Well to some it is exciting because if they live in a very cold country, I am sure they don't have a lot of orange trees.  So while my sister is visiting sunny San Jose, California she so quiet a bit of homes with orange tree with many many fruits ready to be picked.  She said she would go for a walk and just pick the ones that she can reach.  My hubby told her that the owners of those trees do not appreciate people just going by the tree and picking one or two.  Yesterday while doing errands, I saw a sign that was posted right on the orange tree.  On our way home, I asked Jeff if he can stop by this particular home.  The sign was still there and I made sure my sister read the sign.  This is what it said, "PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OUR ORANGES". 

In order to satisfy the craving of picking fresh oranges from a tree, we took my sister to my MIL's home as she has an orange tree filled with oranges ready to be picked.  Not only that she was also happy to pick some lemons. I would have posted some pictures but unfortunately my phone is still incapacitated and actually maybe even dead.  I think this is when I start panicking.  Maybe not, I am still trying to feel better because this cold that I currently have is not going away.  The coughing is really annoying and it's very difficult to sleep because I am whizzing.  I actually don't care not having a phone because all I want for New Year is to get rid of this cold.

Waygone Wednesday - Exhausted but still awesome

Lucky me, I was able to golf with my visiting friends Andre and Raff yesterday.  The day started a little cloudy and very tiny showers but by the time we were on our first tee, the weather was just nice and comfy.  I could see that my friend Andre is a little exhausted.  It could be from the long trips, long days at work or maybe from the workout that his wife put him through.  Even though he was not 100%, you have to watch this guy golf.  I think he is one of those people that you call a natural athlete. I believe he shot a 39 on the front 9. Anyway, I really enjoy my morning with them at the golf course near my house.  After golf we came back to the house and I served lunch prior to their departure to their next destination.  By the way, it was really nice to see at least 4 deers (two of them Bambi) just running along the fairways.  On the back 9, we stopped to check out Bambi's mom just resting.

While cleaning the BBQ cover and cleaning the backyard, I noticed that the couple of our fruit trees have some fruits.  I was surprised that I never saw them before, just goes to show you that I don't spend a lot of time in our backyard.

There's actually 4 mandarins that still needs to turn orange in color.
