Tune up Tuesday - Oil Change

Did I tell you how lucky I am to have a very handy man around the house?  I think most of you know how handy Jeff is around the house.  It's that time of the year when I book an appointment with him to have my oil change for my car.  Last week when my car needed to get a smog check, he took it to the place, got the smog certificate then paid the registration on line.  No waiting and no appointment required.  Every April and October, Jeff changes the oil, filter if required.  He also takes care of tires, breaks, and whatever else regular maintenance is needed to keep the 2005 Toyota runs so smoothly.  By the way, he not only takes care of cars, he also takes very good care of watering our indoor plants.  That is why I have to give him all the credit for my orchid plant that has 5 blooms this season and two flowers have already opened.  It's funny sometimes when we would be booking appointments with each other.  Like when he needs a hair cut, he would ask for a time and date when I could accommodate his requests.  There's a lot of things that Jeff and I can do for each other as well as things around the house that we can do ourselves.  Today I am very proud to show you my orchid plant with number one and two flower. As you can see in the second photo, there's three more buds that are waiting to open.  This plant will be two year old next month.

Sugary Saturday - Candy bar hunt

As you all know, there are so many different candy bars in the USA that are not available in Canada.  When my daughter is having a sweet tooth attack, she sends me a photo of a candy that she would like to try.  Today Jeff and I went hunting for the particular candy as well as a different snack.  Since Jeff is an avid fan of candies, he really did not mind looking for such an item.  Of course, he's like a kid when it comes to getting a surprise at the store.  Check out some of the candies and snacks we found.

Jeff found this and it's similar to Smartees.

My daughter only likes the Butterfinger cups.
This is the one that my daughter wanted to try.

Two different kinds that might not be available in Canada.

Sweet Sunday - Only in Canada

Do you have a favorite candy bar that is only available in the USA?  Do you know that there are other candy bars that are only available in Canada?  Sometimes my daughter would crave for a particular candy and I would find it here because it is not available where she lives.  There are also other cookies that I will find that is so different and she loves trying new cookies or other snacks.  After being in Canada for a couple of weeks, I search for candy bars that we don't have here in the USA.  Some of them are similar candy bars with different names.  I took a photo of my three favorite and brought it back for Jeff to taste.

Here's some of other candy bars that are only available in the USA that I like, not love.

Miniature Monday - My leftover treats

How many left over Halloween candies do you have?  This year we had double the number of kids that stopped by the house.  If you recall my blog about organizing my treats in three different categories, then you can remember some of my favorites.  I decided to take photo just in case you missed that post.  We have a small basket that Jeff keeps in his office.  Sometimes he takes a handful and places them in his pocket.  Sometimes we have one or two for our evening snack.  I know I shouldn't be eating a lot of these treats because of the sugar content.  But as you can  see, these are miniature candies and they are in fact very small.  I figured since I have been sick for almost ten days with whatever flu I got, I did not think twice to have one or two of these treats when I was feeling bad and did not have an appetite.

From the top, Milk Duds, Take 5, Oh Henry, Almond Joy, KitKat, Twix, Heath Bar, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers, Snickers, Hershey and last but not least Hubba Bubba.  I know that some of these are not available in Canada but at the same time, there are some candy bars they have which we cannot find here in the USA.  What is your favorite candy bar?

Trick or Treat Thursday - Belated Halloween

Due to my special Wednesday post, I am doing my Trick or Treat post one day late.  First I would like to show you the before and after of our candy bowl.  In case you can't see clearly we have M&M Pretzel, Take5, Snickers, Heath, Hersheys Cookies and Cream.  Last year we only have between 12 or 15 kids.  I believe we have enough and if not, we will just turn off our last and go to bed early.
Jeff has this black plastic bowl  for at least 5 years and it's his Halloween Bowl.

As for my costume, I went to my volunteer place and wore my Caregiver outfit. That was my costume.  We had a potluck for lunch and I brought some little round appetizers.

My MIL bought this for me two years ago because someone ask me if I was her Caregiver.
Mini Chicken Potpie for our Halloween Potluck.

Timely Tuesday - Jelly Belly Collections

Sometimes when you are looking too hard for something that someone likes and you really want to get it for her but you can't find it.  Then one day when you are just out and about and you stop by your favorite store called ROSS, ta ta da da.  There they are, in little individual bags and in different flavors.  I am sure when that special someone sees these, she will send me a comment.
A box of five assorted flavors
Fruit Bowl, Sours, Hello Kitty, Cocktail Classics, Sugar Free Assorted Flavor, Sour Neon Inchworm
My apologies for the out of focus photos but at least you know what flavors I found.  I am sure that there's other flavors out there but for now I am hoping this will do.  Do you have a favorite Jelly Belly flavor.  I was actually surprised that they have them in sugar free, so I will have to keep this package for myself.  As for the sour neon inchworm, I love them because at first it's sour and then sweet. My mouth is watering while I am describing this package.
