Movie Monday - Not allowed to pick

My daughter always reminds Jeff or any of my friends - "Don't let my mom pick the movie".  And she has every right to say that.  I am so bad at it but Jeff still offers for me to pick even though he already knows the result.  The issue on picking a movie is that Jeff has different taste and although some of them will most likely be a great movie, it is probably too scary for me.  Of course, the definition of scary for me is again another issue.  I am not afraid of a little violence aka guns and all, it's all about the looks of the people or creatures on the movie. A while ago I posted some of the type of movies that I refuse to watch.  For whatever reason these kind of movies give me nightmares.  Let me give you an example and truly I don't mind if you laugh or shake your head because I know you will.  Here are some of the older movies that I cannot watch and will not watch.

• Avatar - those blue people are scary
• ET - that little cute creature is creepy
• Men in Black - whatever those creatures are called they are awful
• Exorcist - I am even having the chills just typing this word
• Vampires and Wolverines - when such a good looking guy turns ugly
• Walking Dead and Grimm - Jeff watches these series and I will go to bed early, shut the door and wear ear plugs and play games on my Tangerine Fire.

Now you are wondering what other movies can you watch or what movies have I picked that's really bad.  Again, you might think that these movies are actually OK, hopefully.

Since we can now just watch some of the current movies on the TV at home using a special APP, we can truly enjoy our movie night.  Here's my list of upcoming movies to watch.

Freewheeling Friday - It's so relaxing

Remember those days that the only way to see a movie is actually going to the Theater? Now we have so much more options and the best one that we like is watching in the comfort of our living room with our electric blanket and awesome snack to munch on.  There's a variety of providers and lately we have been watching a lot of movies for free.  We would pick from the selection that is available and if we time it right, we could watch two instead of one.  The other great feature is that we can pause it if we want to stretch our legs, get a snack or drink or even use the bathroom.  I have to admit, I am the worst when it comes to picking a movie.  Thankfully my daughter is nice enough to provide me with suggested titles that they have seen or she's reviewed.  There's a list of movies that I would like to see and hopefully will be available soon.  The other list below are some of the ones we have seen in the past couple of months. Almost forgot, watching at home is perfect because no one will be kicking the back of your chair during the movie.

The following are the ones we have seen and in no particular order.  You might wonder why there's a bunch that are animated/children movies.  Well, for those of you who don't know me, I am not fond of anything that has the following words, horror, alien, sci-fi, too violent, too many letter X, and more.

Minions Monday - I couldn't wait

July 10th was the first day of the Minions movie in the theaters.  A few weeks ago I told Jeff that I would wait at least a couple of weeks before we would go and see it.  Last Saturday afternoon shortly after our nap, we decided to check out the show times.  Since Jeff knows that I hate watching it in the theater when I know there are going to be some kids involved, we both had an idea of watching the movie at the nearest Drive in theater.  You are wondering why I don't like watching when I know there's going to be kids.  It's pure luck or just because, it doesn't matter which seat we would pick, there would be some kid behind me that would constantly kick the back of my chair.  Sometimes it's not just kids, even adults and it is so annoying.  You can tell them but most of the time they ignore you and maybe sometimes even do it more once you tell them.  This is one of the reason why we just wait for whatever movie we would like to see to be available ON Demand.  There is only one drive in that's close to our home so we checked out the times, cost and was happy to see the results.  We left an hour early to make sure we weren't rushed and when we arrive there, we were completely so so wrong.  The line up was very slow and very long that we thought we will miss the beginning of the movie.  When we finally got the ticket, there was not much parking left and we had to take the one which was not a great location but it was good enough.  Since the Minions was the first movie showing, we were able to leave the place right after the movie.  The next movie was Jurassic Park which I was not interested in seeing.  Anyway, after that experience, Jeff and I decided that we love watching movies in the comfort of our living room, with free food and drinks, no annoying kids/adult kicking my chair and most of all we don't have to worry about parking, etc.  Oh, almost forgot, I can't do a review of the movie because my daughter will be watching it with her friends in a couple of weeks.  PS. I am never going to that drive in theater again.

 

Marvel Monday - Avengers Age of Ultron

When we got bored gambling in Reno last weekend, we all decided to see a movie during the day. The weather was a bit cool and some showers were expected.  It was Monday after lunch and for some reason at that particular location, we were able to get Senior's rate.  Jeff was a bit hesitant because technically he is not and he does not really want to rush it.  There were other good movies showing but the Avengers Age of Ultron had to be the one.  Our friends asked if I was OK with it since there might be some weird or scary creatures that might be involved.  My response was "if THOR is part of it, then everything will be just fine".

Really, who wouldn't love this character but most of all, who wouldn't love to see Chris Hemsworth.  The movie was a bit long but I did not mind because there's more of Thor to see.  It was a great movie and I can't hardly wait to see the other THOR movie that I haven't seen.  Hopefully it will be available ON Demand soon and if not I can wait for it on Amazon Prime.  The next day we decided to watch another movie but this time we just had to go to the cinema in our hotel.  It was an afternoon movie for $4, not a bad deal for some type of entertainment.  My friend and I watch Cinderella while the guys watch Jupiter Ascending.  Nothing exciting to report, in fact I think I dozed off during the first part of Cinderella.  I really thought that it was going to be the animated version.  There's nothing special because everyone knows the story from beginning to end. 

 

Theater Tuesday - It's been a while

It has been at least a year ago since we have been to see a movie at the theater.  Not really why all of a sudden we have stopped.  Maybe it's because it's getting a little too expensive to go and from past experience, there always those annoying kids that sits behind you.  They seem to like to kick on the back of your chair.  Sometimes it's not just kids, adults do the same thing.  We try to choose a night where it might not be that busy.  Then we will find a good spot to seat and at the last minute someone with kids will sit behind us.  I believe these are the reasons.  Oh, let's not forget that if you wanted a snack it will be so expensive for just a popcorn and a drink.  Now there are some movies that has to be seen in the big screen but if we have to put up with those people who are annoying, then we won't really mind waiting for it and watch on demand at home.  We can have the popcorn and drinks and sit comfortably in our couch without anyone kicking.  Anyway, these are the latest movies that I do want to see someday.
