Maybe Monday - Menu that entertains you order

During the weekend, we had a chance to go out for dinner with my cousins to a new they thought would be nice to try.  It's restaurant in the downtown Palo Alto, Ca.  The place was busy and all we can get is a seat at the bar area since we had no reservation.  NOLA is a new orleans type of food.  I tried their oysters and BBQ shrimp with grits.  Honestly, I did not find anything special about the place aside for it being busy and the majority of patrons were university students.  After our dinner we stopped by my cousins home and had tea.  While sharing stories and sipping our tea, my cousin shared this Menu that they got from another restaurant they tried a couple of weeks ago.  I will leave it to your imagination.

Sliced Mized Seaweed
Stewed Beef Shrink
Lotus Leave Wrap Pork Ribs
Russian Ox Tail Soup
Beef Noodle Soup No Meat
Coke Pigs Feet Rice Box

If and when we go out to try a different restaurant, we will definitely try this special asian place.  I would like to try the last dish but would ask if I can get it in Diet or Zero.

Soulful Sunday - It's his day

It's hard to believe that each Sunday at a particular time in the morning, my heart still feels something is not right.  I know what it means and so I just let it happen and remember my son.  For those of you who have lost a child, I am sure that you still feel the same even after many years has gone by.  As I sit and think of what to post today, there's only these words that comes to my mind:
I really miss my son.
John Legend is one of his favorite singer.

Simply Saturday - What a joy?

What are the simple things in life that brings joy?  The past week has been a busy but I manage to do simple things that brings so much joy to life.  After coming back from our mini get away, Jeff and I decided to play a bit of tennis because the weather was so nice.  It's really too bad that he still is not retired because we can only play when it's his day off or on weekends.  We have so much fun getting some exercise and being outdoors.  On Thursday was my day at the Salon to get those roots touch up.  My hairstylist was so great even doing the shampoo and rinse after as well as a little head massage.  He will be away for two weeks in April and he promised that his friend Paul from LA will be covering for him so I don't need to worry.  He knows how to take care of his clients.  After my hair appointment, I was debating if I should golf or not, but the weather got really warm and not a cloud in the blue sky.  Of course I had my clubs in the trunk so I opted to golf instead of shop.  It was a test of patience because I was tagged with a father with his 2 kids.  There were not so bad but towards the end they became those annoying kids.  Friday morning I met Bob, a tennis player that I met when Jeff and I were playing at one of the school courts.  We exchange numbers and finally got a hold of each other.  He was a better player than me which is great as I can practice returning harder shots and a variety of shots.  We rallied for an hour and I had a workout.  He is also retired and can play in the mornings and lives not too far from our home.  I look forward to more tennis with him.   Of course Friday afternoon is volunteer time at the library with my MIL.  We sorted, organized  and boxed books within 1.5 hours.  Both of us really enjoyed our time there, there is no boss, no wrong way to do things, and they appreciate each and every minute we spend there.  Since we did not have Gamble (our grandson) last night, we decided to accept the invitation of Jeff's friend to meet them for drinks at a local bar.  We don't go out very often so when we get the invite, we usually can make it and this time it's only 10 minutes from the house.  Hanging out with friends at the end of the week is a treat.

Have a great weekend and I hope that you have enjoyed the simple things in life that gives you joy.

False Friday - Fake versu Real

While watching an award show the other night, I noticed that most of the women had fake eye lashes.  This made me think of all the false or fake things that women are using or having.  Let me start with nails.  I am very lucky to have real strong finger nails and I can grow them long which is why I don't use fake nails.  Although I tried having those gel nails one time and all it did was ruin my nails and it actually made it soft and weak.  I had to wait a long time to get the weak ones grew out before I had my strong nails back.  So no more fake nails for me.
My real nails - not too long
The next one are the fake eye lashes.  Now a days it seems like it's an every day use.  I seem to recall that a long time ago, it was only use for special occasion.  There are eye lashes that are placed one at a time and are good for a few months and can even get wet.  It's costly and you have to come back every month or so to get it maintained.  I have to admit that I bought some fake ones and tried it and it actually did not look so fake.  Then I discovered that if I bought a curler and an awesome mascara that it will give me great lashes, so I did.  I was out shopping with my niece and I splurge and got the Christian Dior Mascara in blue.  My daughter could believe that I bought such because it was out of my price range.  The other favorite mascara is by Mac.  It comes with two brushes one for daytime and the other for night time.  Now I am very happy with the results and don't really need my false lashes, although I am keeping what I bought just in case I need it someday.

What about wearing a wig?  It's not your own hair and therefore it's fake again.  But for some this is very important specially if they lost their hair to some type of disease or illness.  I actually have a couple of wig that I use when the roots are too grey and I need to hide it.  One is very similar to my current hair color and it's a pony tail version.  It just makes my pony tail thicker and longer.  The other one is a bit darker with some red tints and it's long and wavy.
I've worn it at least 3 times and it's very comfortable but the only think I don't like is that I have to wear some sort of scarf or head band to cover the edge.  Here's a photo of my ponytail wig.
My real hair on a pony tail would only hang at the beginning of my neck.
