Summerside Saturday - My favorite B&B

The past month Jeff and I toured the Maritimes which includes Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.  For those of you who are unfamiliar, these are part of Canada's Atlantic provinces.  The only one we did not get a chance to visit is Newfoundland.  There are so many things I wanted to share about this particular trip and I would still do them but do different posts this month.  Today I would like to feature my new favorite Bed and Breakfast.  It is called the Summerside Inn, located on the corner of summer and winter.

I love how the streets are named and it's so fitting that it's called Summerside Inn.

The owners of this bed and breakfast is Ken and Jen.  They were the so helpful and so welcoming and it made us really feel at home.  We stayed here for a couple of nights and met some wonderful people.  Our breakfast which was included in our stay were so delicious and everything was home made.  Their recommendations were so amazing and perfect.  From what we should see and do in a very short time, or a place to eat with some entertainment. Their home was very clean and the place settings at their dining table were luxurious.

We stayed at their Summer Room.  The bed was so comfy and a little high for me but they provided a stool.

Their location was excellent as you can walk to their main downtown and other points of interest.  If you are planning a trip someday to Canada's Maritimes,  we highly recommend staying with Ken and Jen at the Summerside Inn in Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

First Friday - March to November

Since today is the first Friday of the month of October, it is a perfect day to talk about first's.

Like the first time you flew, the first kiss, the first date, etc.  But today is different because I just want to announce the first book that my friend wrote - March to November.  I told her that I would feature it in my blog and she approved.  I cannot do a review because we just bought it and is now available on my Kindle Fire.  I know Jeff started reading it while he was travelling last week.  As for me, I will be starting tonight.  In the meantime, please feel free to check it out and here's a number of ways to get the book. www.ByddiLee.com

Tee'd off Thursday - I need a new golf bag

This is what happens when you go away for an extended period of time.  It was for the whole month of September that I decided to visit my daughter and her hubby, all my BBF's and attend a wedding of one of my very dear friend.  I flew to Toronto on September 4 and two weeks later, Jeff followed.  We did a little bit of travelling and I will be sharing some of the photos and stories in the next couple of weeks.  For now I am venting because of what I discovered when I was looking for my golf bag.  I decided to take it inside the garage while my cousin was borrowing my car.  What I didn't realize was that there was a protein bar that was left on one of the side pocked.  To make the long story short, check out the photo below.

Some type of critter chewed it so badly that I cannot fix it.  Oh bother, now I have to ask Jeff to find a replacement.  I'm upset but not angry because when you think of the big picture, there are other things in life that is more important.  This is just a little inconvenience but is replaceable.

This is going to be my new golf bag that Jeff ordered for me.  

Separation Sunday - Six degrees

Six degrees of separation is the theory that anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries (from what is that com).  After reconnecting with some of my friends, we started talking about life and how people we meet somehow ends up connected with others. This post is about different stories shared by my friends and the people they met that knows me.  

• Catherine - we met in Regina, Saskatchewan on training for three weeks. We kept in touch through the years. While visiting Toronto, she went out with her friend to a bar to meet with others.  She was introduced to my daughter.  Until she mentioned where she worked and my daughter told her where I worked and they realized the connection.
• Two officers who worked together in Ottawa were sharing stories and somehow ended up finding out they both knew me.  One I met in Whitehorse in 1984 and the other I met in Ottawa in 1991.
• Lorna - was being interviewed by an officer about a report and at the end of their conversation, she found out the officer knew me.
• One single golfer joined two other golfers at a golf course somewhere in Quebec.  After the 18th golf, they stopped for a beer and started talking.  Somehow they both found out they knew me.  
• A previous co worker was attending one of my birthday party. She was a little shy so I introduced her to one of tennis friend.  A few minutes later they found out they had worked together somehow in the Philippines prior to coming to Canada.
• On a return flight from Edmonton to Toronto some years ago I sat beside a man who was the brother of one of the Trainers I knew in Ottawa .  It was only because he asked me what I do and where I work.

Tripping Thursday - Travel

Traveling is not as much fun as it use to be.  You pay so much for everything and anything.  The cost of getting fed is much higher because even a bottle of water is almost as expensive as a can of soda.  As for traveling light, well it's really the way to do it.  You don't have to worry about waiting for your luggage, just in case there's a delay, you could actually get re booked because you have not luggage to worry about. The only issue about carry on is that there's a weight limit and of course all the liquid regulations.  As my daughter reminded me when I travel, just bring important items, like prescriptions, glasses, etc.  The rest of the things you need, you can always buy it at your destination.  Lately there's more and more rules when you go through the security check.  Although sometimes it is so inconsistent.  Some airports would ask you to take off your shoes/footwear and others don't care.  Sometimes even the same airports would have a rule in place one month and the next time you go through the same airport, it has change.  Yes, I agree that they have to change rules to accommodate the latest threat, but some traveler told me once that the smaller airports have tighter security procedure.  Even with all of the above, people still have to get from point A to B and until we can all just fly like birds, we will have to suck it up and do it.

Tantrum Tuesday - Tennis Tears

After watching tennis for the last seven days, it is time to provide my own highlights of the US open tennis 2014.  For those of you are not interested in tennis at all, you might just find this post a little boring.  This is actually just some observations from watching the coverage.  I have not read any of the news posted on line or other type of social media.  Here it goes:

• ESPN shows only the doubles match of the Williams sister. I think they should show the BRYAN brothers matches instead.  It's much more skills and no drama.
• Maria's pick of outfits are not as exciting as all the previous US open.  Both her evening and daytime outfits seems like no thought was put into it.
• Roger Federer's matches are so exciting with a lot of great shots.
• If we could only hear what Serena said when she was unable to get a certain shots when playing against Lepchenko.  
• It is amazing who fast some of the Men players were serving.  Raonic, Isner, Krygios, Groth and Estrela Burgos.
• When Venus loses it seems like the excuse is she's not healthy and still fighting some type of illness which causes a person to be tired.  For some of us, it's called Aging.
• Eugenie Bouchard (Canadian), great young player who is mature with an awesome  personality.  I love that she has her Genie Army everywhere and that she's good friends with Sheldon (Big Bang Theory). Good luck to Genie. GO Canada GO.

Mastering Monday - Practice makes perfect

Happy Labor Day to everyone in Canada and the USA.  It's the first day of September and it's hard to believe that some of the leaves are starting to change.  I am sorry for not posting for a few days but I have been busy with my volunteer work, golf and of course my sewing.  I am trying to make as many items for the upcoming holiday boutique that my neighbor and I plan to have sometime in November.  It will be about a month before Christmas which is a perfect time to sell crafts which are great gifts.  The eight potato bags I made were already sold which means I would have to make at least 20 for the sale.  The other item I have been perfecting are kitchen towels.  As for baby items, I have made a lot of bandana bibs which should be enough for the sale.  For the month of October, I plan to sew as much of other gift ideas which I am still creating in my head.  I also have a box full of pin cushions which I have done earlier this year.  Here' some sample of the latest kitchen towels I have finished.  It seems like a perfect day to show the fruits of my labor.
